Conformity Assessment

Inspection Services

Inspection is a set of procedures that the Somali Bureau of Standards undertakes to ensure that products conform to a defined set of quality standards. SoBS conducts inspections at Ports of Entry and in the marketplace to protect Somali consumers from substandard and unsafe products.

Port Inspection

Inspection of all goods at sea ports, airports and land border crossings before they enter the Somali market.

Market Surveillance

Ongoing monitoring of products already in the Somali marketplace to detect non-compliant or hazardous items.

Factory Inspection

Assessment of production facilities to verify that manufacturing processes meet applicable quality standards.

Coordinated Border Management (CBM)

IGAD Regional Programme

SoBS participates in the IGAD Coordinated Border Management programme, working with partner organisations across the region to harmonise border inspection procedures and prevent the entry of substandard goods into IGAD member countries including Somalia.
