The National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia is a technical committee established to develop, maintain, and update national standards and guidelines for the electrotechnical sector in Somalia. The committee is made up of experts from relevant industries, academia, and government agencies. Its aim is to ensure that the technical standards and guidelines developed are relevant, up-to-date, and meet the needs and priorities of stakeholders in the electrotechnical sector.
NATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMITTEE OF SOMALIA (NECSO )
Scope:
The objectives of the National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia are to:
- Develop national standards and guidelines that reflect best practices and emerging trends in the electrotechnical sector
- Review and revise existing national standards and guidelines to ensure they remain relevant and up-to-date
- Provide input and feedback on international electrotechnical standards and guidelines
- Promote the adoption and implementation of national standards and guidelines
- Develop and deliver training and education programs related to national standards and guidelines
- Collaborate with other technical committees and organizations to ensure alignment and consistency in national standards and guidelines.
The National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia will focus on the following areas:
- Electrical installations
- Electrical equipment and components
- Electrical energy generation, transmission, and distribution
- Electromagnetic compatibility and interference
- Electrical safety
Mandate:
The mandate of the National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia is to develop and maintain national standards and guidelines for the electrotechnical sector in Somalia. The committee is responsible for ensuring that the technical standards and guidelines developed are relevant, up-to-date, and meet the needs and priorities of stakeholders in the electrotechnical sector.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia is responsible for:
- Conducting research and analysis to support the development of national standards and guidelines
- Engaging with stakeholders in the electrotechnical sector to understand their needs and priorities
- Developing national standards and guidelines that reflect best practices and emerging trends in the electrotechnical sector
- Reviewing and revising existing national standards and guidelines to ensure they remain relevant and up-to-date
- Providing input and feedback on international electrotechnical standards and guidelines
- Promoting the adoption and implementation of national standards and guidelines
- Developing and delivering training and education programs related to national standards and guidelines
- Collaborating with other technical committees and organizations to ensure alignment and consistency in national standards and guidelines
- Monitoring trends and emerging technologies in the electrotechnical sector to ensure that national standards and guidelines remain relevant and up-to-date
- Reviewing and revising national standards and guidelines as needed to reflect changes in the electrotechnical sector
- Continuously improving the work of the National Electrotechnical Committee of Somalia.
